President – Stephanie Albers (Horicon Bank)

Stephanie Albers works for Horicon Bank as the AVP Northern Regional Manager with more than 15 years banking experience. She has a passion for helping people and serving others. She is involved in many community boards and activities such as: playing flute/piccolo in the Fond du Lac Symphonic Band, singing at Holy Family Catholic Parish, serving on the Leadership Fond du Lac Alumni Empty Bowls Committee, serving as a board member of the Fond du Lac Noon Kiwanis, is a 2011 Graduate of the Leadership Fond du Lac Program and MORE! She graduated from Marian University with two bachelor’s degrees, one in Music and one in Marketing. She is happily married to Jeffrey Albers and they have 3 beautiful children. She loves to sing, go camping, hunt, be outdoors, and spend time with family and friends.

Treasurer – Cyndi Hintz, CPA (Vesta)
Cyndi is Vesta’s Chief Operating Officer and has been with the firm since 2005. In that role she oversees all aspects of the firm’s internal operations.  Prior to the COO position, Cyndi led the assurance (audit) department through a significant growth phase during her tenure.  Cyndi has spent over 25 years working with not-for-profits in various capacities.  In addition to serving on Habitat for Humanity of Fond du Lac County Board of Directors, Cyndi is on the board for Envision Greater Fond du Lac, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Fond du Lac, and serves as the volunteer controller for her church.  Cyndi lives in the Fond du Lac area with her husband, Corey, and two sons, Andy and Josh.  They are avid Brewers, Packers, Bucks, and Badger fans.

Secretary – Tom Walker
Tom Walker is Quality Manager at GREIF. Tom has been a Quality Professional with 34 years of manufacturing experience, with industries ranging from graphic printing to machining of engine components to aluminum foundry to paperboard tubes and cores.  Through these experiences he has been the change agent for process improvements; this has lead him to follow the words of Socrates “The secrets of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” Tom is a long time resident of Fond du Lac. He has held several leadership position in non-profit organizations.  Starting with the Boys Scouts of America, Tom was a Pack Committee Chairman, in Appleton, for 4 years where he and his team were able to implement a successful non-traditional fundraising campaign. During this time scout enrollment tripled.  He has also served as the Chairman of the Church Council and the Personnel Committee at Ascension Lutheran Church as well as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Elks.  Tom is looking forward to utilizing his skills for process improvements to strengthen our local organization, and fulfill the mission of improving lives for families in Fond du Lac County.

Board Member – Amy Emmer-Sheldon, MD

As a Fond du Lac County native, Amy Emmer-Sheldon is passionate about supporting a vibrant Fond du Lac community. She is the Vice President of Habitat for Humanity of Fond du Lac County and is a member of the Family Selection Committee.  Amy is a Pediatrician at Aurora Health Care in Fond du Lac, helping our youngest community members thrive. She was a volunteer and board member for the Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac and continues to support their mission. She is involved in her church and multiple community organizations.  She and her husband, Neil, have 2 young adult children.  In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, baking, crafts, and candy making.

Board Member – Sandy Syms (Advocap)

Sandy works with Advocap and administrates the Wisconsin Help for Homeowners program. This program is part of the Cares Act and provides financial assistance to eligible homeowners’ that were impacted by COVID 19. Sandy is passion-driven to help homeowners sustain and maintain homeownership and has dedicated herself to sustainability homeownership for 20 years. Sandy has served on the Homeowner Selection Committee for Habitat for six years prior to being appointed a board member. She will be continuing her service for homeowner selection, preparing and processing down payment grant assist along with other volunteer opportunities for Habitat, as needed.

Board Member – Al Sturgeon
Al Sturgeon serves as Associate Vice President for Student Success and Assistant Professor of Political Science at Ripon College. Al has a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Arkansas and a JD degree from the Caruso School of Law at Pepperdine University. He is a member of the State Bar of California and has served on the boards of various community organizations in the past but has a special love for Habitat for Humanity. Al has worked as a coach, teacher, pastor, and higher education professional and has now lived in six states but is extremely proud of his new home state of Wisconsin! Al and his wife, Jody, have two adult daughters that serve as teachers in Los Angeles, California, and Austin, Texas, respectively. In his spare time, Al enjoys running, reading, writing, and being a sports fan.

 

Board Member – Kate Bauer

Kate, a Fond du Lac native and previous Habitat for Humanity Homeowner, brings a wealth of volunteer knowledge and leadership skills to the Board. Kate and her six children were recipients of the 9th Habitat for Humanity Home in Fond du Lac that was built the summer of 2000. In 2012, as a student at UW-Fond du Lac, Kate founded the UW-FDL Habitat for Humanity Club. She led a crew of 8 students to Albany, Alabama for a blitz build during spring break. Since that time, Kate has received her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, and she is a Clinical Supervisor for the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation in Fond du Lac.

Kate and her husband Rob founded Camp To Belong-Wisconsin, a 501(c) 3 non-profit that reunites siblings who have been separated by the foster care system. Kate was the Executive Director from 2013 to 2024 when she stepped down and the organization was dissolved to make way for Belong Wisconsin, a new non-profit. Belong Wisconsin has a similar mission and Kate’s daughter Eshalon is the Executive Director. Caring for and supporting others in their time of need is a strong value for Kate and she is proud that this interest and connections to community has passed down to her children. Kate sold her Habitat home in 2020, she now lives in Taycheedah with her husband, one of her sons and two granddaughters. Kate has 8 grandchildren who are her light and joy, a goldendoodle named Olive and two cats, Baby Kitty and Charlotte.

Board Member – Jason Mayer, CPA (FVSBank)

Jason works at FVSBank as Vice President and Controller with more than 20 years of banking experience in the accounting department.   He graduated from North Central College with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.  While at North Central College, Jason participated in Cross Country and Track & Field.  He enjoys following the state sports teams and golfing.

Kathy brings many years of professional experience and passion to this position.Her skill set is a perfect fit for our local affiliate as she excels in community relations, fundraising and development, event management and has years of non-profit expertise. Kathy has worked at the UWO-Fond du Lac campus as the Event and Theater manager, Art Galley Curator and marketing. Prior to working for the campus, she was the HFH of FDL County executive director for several years. Kathy graduated from MPTC, FVTC, Lakeland College and is certified in Fund Raising Management and a registered Interior Designer.

 

Fran Holzmann,

Volunteer Admin. Assistant
Fran is a lifelong resident of Fond du Lac. She recently retired after working 23 years as an administrative assistant at the UWO Fond du Lac campus, and brings a wealth of experience to her role at HFH of Fond du Lac County.  She enjoys following the Brewers and Packers, baking, and  spoiling her grandchildren.
