Marion University students (above) participated in "Shantytown", an event to raise awareness for homelessness and poverty housing.

Twenty students raised over $775 in pledges for their commitment to spend the night in their cardboard shacks.  Proceeds were donated to the Fond du Lac Habitat for Humanity to support new housing projects in 2010.

The event took place on Sept. 24th.  The students gathered at 4 p.m. to construct their houses in which they spent the night.
