The Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Habitat For Humanity of Fond du Lac County ReStore celebrates two years in newly expanded location and expanded hours.

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore of Fond du Lac County is celebrating its second year at their location at 150 S. Brooke Street.   They are also pleased to announce the expansion of their store hours.  In celebration they have partnered with the Fondy Food Pantry by holding a food drive from November 4 – 21.  Those who bring in canned goods will receive a discount on their purchase and will be entered into a special drawing for door prizes.

The Fondy Food Pantry is a nonprofit organization committed to addressing the food needs of the hungry in the greater Fond du Lac community.   It serves as a central collection facility for non-perishable food items, distributing them based on referrals by agencies, organizations, and congregations who serve the needy.  “As our organizations share many of the same values, Habitat is proud to partner with the pantry to assist those in our community in need of a decent meal”, said Kathy Strong-Twohig.

The Habitat ReStore is a home-improvement resale store that is open to the public to both shop and donate useable building and household items.  Nancy Zompolas, ReStore Supervisor, is excited to announce the expansion of an additional 2000 square feet for a total of 7000 square feet of bargains to shop.  Long-term volunteers who have been with the store since it’s opening are enthusiastic about the number of quality donations and well organized departments, along with increased inventory of merchandise for sale.

The Habitat ReStore provides additional funding to support the local house builds in our community.  It is a means to divert construction and household materials from landfills and protect the environment.  The store depends upon donations from the community to continue its mission of helping low-income families.  Acceptable items to donate include lumber, cabinetry, doors, windows, hardware, appliances, gently used home and office furniture and house ware items.     All donations are tax-deductible.

The ReStore is located at 150 S. Brooke Street.  The newly expanded hours are 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.  Donations are accepted during store hours.
