Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses, so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God's love and can live and grow into all that God intends.

What We Are

Habitat for Humanity (HFH) is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Habitat works in partnership with people in need throughout the world building simple, decent shelter that is sold to them at no profit through no-interest loans. Funds, building materials and labor are donated by individuals, churches, corporations and other organizations who share our goal of eliminating substandard housing in the world. HFH works with people from all walks of life to work in partnership to help build houses for families in need. Millard and Linda Fuller founded HFH International in 1976. The FDL affiliate was founded in 1996. Former US President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalyn started their volunteer work with HFHI in New York in 1984, and they have really put HFH in the forefront of people’s minds.

There are more than 2300 affiliates worldwide, with more than 200,000 people volunteering annually. “It is with great comfort to know that HFHI is currently helping to rebuild homes destroyed by the Tsunami, ” states Kathy Strong-Twohig. Habitat for Humanity of FDL has completed 14 homes in the community. We have placed 52 family members into the completed houses in FDL County. Homes have been built in FDL, NFDL and Ripon so far. Volunteers are still needed, please check out the build schedule to reserve your volunteer spot.  We invite you to come and join us build on Tuesday and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  We do ask that you call to reserve your spot for the particular day(s) that fit your schedule.
